Bing cookies set when Win10 starts - why?

I've noticed that when I start Win10 it sets two cookies - bing.com and Bing - even though I don't knowingly use Bing for anything. So, I'm curious to know why these are being set.

Could it be related to the inbuilt Win10 search function that seems to want to use Bing? Could they be blocked?

    Thanks

I don't know why this is so. There are many potential reasons and I don't care to speculate.

There is a great deal about Windows or any other OS for that matter that is not officially documented or at all. You might find a blog where it is mentioned but it is likely a guess by someone not involved. One reason is that once something is documented developers may use this knowledge in their applications. Developers have shown great ingenuity with this kind of thing. If this were later changed the application may break. Another reason is that explaining everything would be a huge burden for the designers and developers.
