Or what about one of these !!!! That's how I view AMD processors currently !!!!

    (snip)

(Old East German trabant, 2 cylinders ran on two-stroke oil and even a smoke bomb would have emitted less smoke than these things did - and people had to wait 20 years to get them --incredible !!!).

    Cheers

If you check my "My Computer", you'll see how I feel about AMD processors. They've gone a long way from the early days fo selling alternate (cheap) processors that plugged into Intel sockets. Try and find a Ryzen 9 5900X or 5950X at anywhere near list price.

(My most recent Intel system used an Intel X99 motherboard. The main thing I miss is the quad channel RAM, available from AMD only with the expensive Threadripper desktop CPUs. Not that I need quad channel.)

The Trabant had one advanced feature: a composite body. When they were all trashed after German re-unification, the bodies could be burned in power plants. (I said composite, not fiberglass.)

Thanks for the help. I've been looking at reviews, and I wish I hadn't. I don't know what it means but some reviews say this laptop has a TN (?) display which is considered poor, while other websites mention an IPS which is better.
    No, the 5i 15 has a 15.6" Full HD (1920x1080) IPS 300nits Anti-glare, 45% NTSC display. See:

If more memory is suggested...how about this one? Same price as Lenovo.

    Expandable to 128 Gigs.

For me, personally, 8GB of memory is enough. The CPU performance is always comparatively much more important for the kind of hobby work that I like to do on my laptops, and, I typically buy a new laptop every ~3 years. But then, I don't know exactly what kind of work it is that you intend to do, so, I'm bias.

I think you're far behind the times, Jimbo. AMD has Intel beat by a large margin. Intel is playing catchup and won't be on par for a couple of years.

Intel makes a Trabant, not AMD.
