Uk videos on the dvd drive in north America

Saw some dvds that play in uk, but not necessarily in canada. Is there a conversion app?
    Thanks all

There are programs which strip the region coding but there’s no legal way to do this.
You’d need to purchase a region free player or look up on how to do this with a DVD drive in a PC.
U.K. Is region 2/B for blu ray.

Prism Video File Converter - Which formats are supported by Prism?

"Note: Copy protected files cannot be decoded. Most often, these are commercial videos purchased online or on a disc."

I have no Region 2 disks to check it with, though.

To the original poster: there may be a firmware hack for your DVD drive that makes it region free. It may also be possible to switch regions without that. If you post your drive's make and model, you may receive better help.

It looks like they are all available on the britbox streaming service in Canada, that may work out a better option - https://www.justwatch.com/ca/tv-show...risties-poirot

right click on your DVD drive in "this pc" select properties. next pop up select properties again and click on DVD region.
there you can change the region 4 times.
    Hope this helps

    Google doesn't recognize "hp BDIFVDH1".

The drive should be listed in Device Manager. For example: my Lenovo laptop's optical drive is a PLDS DA8AESH. (PLDS is Philips/Lite-On Digital solutions.)

A word of caution: if you can identify the drive and wish to make it region free by installing modifed firmware, please note that some of the sites that pretend to offer such firmware are really malware sites. Be cautious.

It may be easier to purchase an external DVD drive that is already region free. If you don't need a BluRay capability, such drives can be inexpensive (amazon.ca).

region free dvd players yes but not an external drive.
that is clearly the best idea!
do they also convert the signal type from uk to us?
    thanks for the great idea
