Thanks for your reply Edwin so I can take it that we are not going to be forced into buying Windows all over again at what would be a great cost as I have a few machines and I am loathe to have to install yet another version anyway whats wrong with 10 as it is??

Interesting concept. Anyway, Microsoft has repeatedly stated in the past (subject to change?) that Windows 10 is it. It will be updated but there won't be a Windows 11, 12, etc. But then, who knows ..........

Last I heard was, Windows 10 is the final version of Windows, just updates of one sort or another from here on out..., but, with MS, you never know!

Thanks for all your replies and yes Edwin one would never know what they (Microsoft) have in mind and I for one will be very disappointed if they do go with another version after all the loyalty to Microsoft over the years and having to put up with many hassles earlier on with 10 I think we as their "customers" are entitled to some stability.

If there is a New version of Windows, whatever they call it. In the future, You can always Upgrade for free, just like in the past, Upgrading from Windows 7 or 8 to Windows 10 using that OS's Product key.

Ok spunk but all that concerns me is the machines that I have with an OEM key which I have found in the past will not reinstall using the key that comes up with the Showkey tutorial.

Personally I cannot think that 10 could be made even better and if it is who would benefit from it apart from Microsoft!

In UEFI Bios', the product key is embedded in the Bios, so you don't have to type one in. When Windows 10 was first introduced, it allowed OEM versions to upgrade for free for the first year.
Technology is like a shark, it keeps moving forward and doesn't look back, whether you want it to or not.
There are always things that people liked in previous versions that Microsoft took away, and if enough people complain, they might put back in. And there are a lot of 3rd party software, that Microsoft can incorporate their own version of into future versions of Windows, think Anti-Virus software.
People used to say that Windows XP could not get any better, and here we are now.
