But at what point is enough enough and you call the product obsolete? Should Ford still be manufacturing and selling parts for Model T's for example? How long are Model T owners entitled to stability from Ford? How long are 286 or 386 computer owners entitled to stability from Microsoft for Windows 3.1?
I agree Navy but I just wish they would not keep changing the version it seems after a very short time period because 10 is stable as far as I am concerned and should be left alone for while longer after all what is wrong with it?
Well, that is pretty much a universal problem with software in general, though. Think device drivers, Macrium Reflect, all the software that does automatic checks for updates.... There are very few "once and done" programs/apps out there that are not in continual development. Yes, I do agree that it would be nice to just freeze a computer in the state that you like it in, nothing gets updated unless the user specifically says, "Update that specific item, please." But, unfortunately, very, very, very little software is that way. Heck, even "smart" devices like refrigerators are getting software updates these days.
I saw an episode of Gold Rush from a few years ago where their diesel pump stopped working because it connected to a cell phone signal and the software updated itself.
Yep I know you are right Navy and I suppose we shall have to put up with the whims of those who program any system beit Windows, fridges TV's etc as you say. But that does not make it any more pleasurable eh?
I can totally see a Windows 12 in the not to distant future, it`s inevitable, whatever they say right now.
Windows 11 will get here eventually. It will be a port of Ubuntu.
