    Pipppero2007,

I do not think what you want can be done. The best I have ever seen is getting it to start minimised to the Taskbar [which is what dalchina's suggestion does] so you can quickly double-click on it twice to get it minimised to the System tray / the Notification area [ assuming that you have set the Option - Hide when minimised].

    2) put that shortcut in the START-UP folder of the START MENU or running it in a task of the schedule manager
If you open Task mgr elevated then you need to start it from Task scheduler using the trigger At logon of any user and not from a shortcut in the Startup folder.

    - well, copying the shortcut to the bat folder to the Startup folder does indeed launch the taskmanager minimised to the tray on startup/logon as per the title of this thread.

Naturally you can achieve the same thing using the task scheduler, and there are ways to make that 'silent' - i.e. stop the command prompt box appearing briefly.

But we need a response from the OP.

I tried it and it was on the Taskbar as well.

I can't see how I am doing it differently to your post.

If I double click the bat file you can see what I get, bottom right in the tray.

I can't make it clearer.... the only difference after that is perhaps our Windows build...

Was it on your Taskbar as well?

Ah- one more thing- if you have task manager Option 'Hide when minimised' checked, it doesn't appear on the taskbar- only in the tray.

I've never changed those options that I know of...

I think we might be talking at cross-purposes and I asked about your Taskbar in an effort to clarify things.
    - I have found no solution that starts Task manager already minimised to the System tray [the "Notification area"].
    - I have found several solutions that start Task manager already minimised to the Taskbar {and, incidentally, also displayed in the System tray [the "Notification area"]}.
When I tried your solution, it started Task manager already minimised to the Taskbar {and, incidentally, also displayed in the System tray [the "Notification area"]}.

Hi Try3, please try this tiny exe file which I created as a 1 line Autohotkey file.

I've zipped it to upload here. Quite independent of task manager options. Thanks.

Thanks for posting but please would you say whether or not Task mgr also appears on your Taskbar when using your batch file. If so, I will know that there is no difference between your batch file results & mine.

Thanks for the exe. WD deleted the 7z file upon download so I had to allow it through & download it again. It works. Task mgr starts minimised and in the SystemTray [only].
    - It does have an odd quirk.
    - The normal Task mgr systray icon can be restored to a normal window by double-clicking on it.
    - This one does not respond to double-clicking until, at least once since being started, it has been restored by using the right-click, Restore method.
    - Strange.

    All the best,
    Denis

It didn't then it did after changing task manager options, so given the inconsistent behaviour I tried a different approach.
