I am using Windows 10. In my desktop but not on either of my laptops, using the Word "save as"produces a Windows explorer which fills the whole screen. This is new, it never used to happen. It is incredibly irritating and difficult to use. I cannot shrink it, I cannot fund instructions about how to fix it, I am stuck. Apart from being very very large, the interface is otherwise the same.
How to fix this?
Hi, may I suggest you need to specify both your Windows build (as you were prompted to do by the forum) and which version of Office you are using.
Please note that the 'save as' window may look like a file explorer window, but be application specific.

How long has this been happening?
As dalchina says, the version of Office is relevant. Versions earlier than Office 2007 use their own custom 'explorer-type' window for this, later versions use the built-in Windows explorer.
For newer versions (not just Office, any app that has a 'Save as') there are no 'maximise/restore' icons at the top right, just the X for Close, but double-clicking on the title bar has the same effect as clicking 'maximise/restore'. Try that.
