Why are not file type extensions shown as default

    The .exe and .cmd files are the heart of programs, everything associates with them, what else would a file type associate with to be usable.

    Yes! Just tonight I upgraded to the latest Insider 21313 build on my desktop and laptop and the settings haven't changed.

    I don't know how insider upgrades work and not sure that would be the same as a new install OP was referring to - those who do insider upgrades will have to answer.
