It seems like the guys in the Update Dept at Microsoft, haven't learned their lesson very well, in the last decade+.
They are still releasing updates that don't play well, with established OS's.

Once I've got windows xx installed and running to my liking, I permanently disable all Automatic Updates.

That keeps it running smoothly, without any interferance from MS.

There is even a Program that will disable updates for you. It's reversable, of course.
The programs name is "stopupdates10". It's floating around out there somewhere.
I use it now on every Win-10 that I install. Better safe than sorry.

if i hover on it the only thing i see is the OK button, when i move the mouse away the OK button disappears.
the strange thing is when i press on the OK button nothing happens and its still there.

What I normally do in situations like this if they occur, is to right-click the image and select Search Google for Image. It normally gives you some idea, but NOT always!

    I hope this helps.

    Reddit has some recent discussion:

Mysterious overlapping globe symbol on the screen is not deletable

As well as on the Avira Forums.

Pop-up screen won't close or respond

IMO, it's the network status icon that shows up when an issue -- even a temporary one -- related to "No Internet connection" occurs. I saw a bunch of them this morning, just after we had a momentary (2 secs or so) power glitch here at the house, thanks to the recent ice storm here in Central Texas.

    thanks for the help everyone!
this notification came from Avira, the notification disappeared only after i've closed Avira through Task Manager.
I guess i'm going back to Avast.
again, thanks for the help everyone.
