Ctrl-Alt-Del not working at login screen

I have a Panasonic Toughpad running Windows 10 Pro that has recently stopped accepting Ctrl-Alt-Del at the login screen. I press the key combo and it flickers like it is going to the login prompt but it just goes back to the screen telling me to press ctrl-alt-del to unlock the computer. I have tried restarting, safe-mode, startup repair, different keyboards, and nothing works. This computer is on an AD domain so I can not disable ctrl-alt-del. Any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks!

I cannot get into Windows in order to disable ctrl-alt-del, and because this is a domain joined computer shared by different people in its department we cannot disable that feature.

I'm hoping to be able to fix this issue without having to reset the pc but I'm not finding any solutions anywhere short of running commands within Windows, which is something I cannot do.

Hi SWBodager, welcome to Ten Forums.

See if the directions on this site apply and can help you gain access to the bios. Some older PCs I've worked on provided options for ctrl-alt-del within the bios settings.

Thanks for the link. However, ctrl-alt-del is working like is it supposed to, the problem is windows is not responding correctly. When I press ctrl-alt-del the screen changes and I get circle of progressing dots, after about 2 or 3 dots instead of bringing up the login screen it goes back to the screen that says to press ctrl-alt-del to unlock the computer. I know that the key combo is working, Windows is just getting confused for some reason. I have tried different keyboards, accessing the computer remotely, and booting in safe mode and it always starts to bring up the login screen and then goes back to where is was.

If this PC is maintained by a departmental IT person, perhaps you should be speaking with them instead. I used to often tweak things on my old company laptop and if anything went South (and it did occasionally), they'd get annoyed and remind me of company IT policy.

I'm happy to proceed provided you understand that your company policy may not approve and react negatively to your breaching their IT policy.

Another consideration for a company managed PC is that it may be locked up tight and not allow you access to system tools like Command Prompt. If I've misunderstood your situation, I apologize in advance.

I have to step out for a bit and will try to get back ASAP.

That's ok, I am the departmental IT person. If anything gets screwed up I'll be the one re-installing everything.

    Excellent and good to hear.

Although you suggest that the ctrl-alt-del is working, it isn't getting you where you need to go. That to me says, not working. There's not much point of debating semantics, let's focus on getting what you need.

I was suggesting you try the process identified in that link in post #4 in order to access the bios settings. Once in there, investigate the possibility of disabling the ctrl-alt-del process to logon.

If that's of no use, create a bootable USB stick on another PC, change the boot order in your bios to boot from the USB and hopefully that will get you to an Administrative Command Prompt.

From an Administrative Command Prompt, type
    Code:
    sfc /scannow
    + enter.
