    GPEDIT.MSC nightmare!!!

OK Are you ready for this one? I just upgraded my pc with a 2tb SSD! everything is lightning fast except login on windows 10. that being said I made some adjustments in the settings which helped dramatically however being the NEVER HAPPY WITH WHAT I GOT kind of guy that I am, I wanted to bypass the welcome screen on login wanted to go from splash screen right to my desktop. I read that if you went into group policy editor you could do that . seeing as I'm using windows 10 HOME, it doesn't have this option unless you d/l it from a 3rd party. which I did. suffice it to say that when I ran the BAT files as administrator, I lost control of EVERYTHING !!! I cant adjust ANY settings, no typed commands in the run area work . my administrator privilege's have been denied everywhere! is there a way to fix this without losing Windows all together? as a side note... I can get into safe mode and everything works. I actually went into the GPEDIT.SMC and re-did what i screwed up to begin with everything in that setting is now at NOT CONFIGURED. it changed nothing.

What was the prior Windows version?
Was it a clone, restoration, or clean install?
How many days ago was the last windows upgrade?

Use the batch script i have attached to reset the group policy settings to default.

Use ShadowExplorer utility to browse the restore points to copy registry hives, copy System, Software and NtUser.dat hives and use the Windows Recovery Environment to replace these hives with hives used by Windows 10.

    ShadowExplorer.com - Downloads

The registry hives store at C:\Windows\System32\config folder. The NtUser.dat store at your user profile folder(C:\Users\UserName).

Please boot your computer with Windows Setup Media and from Windows Recovery Environment start the Command Prompt.

Execute Notepad.exe and from Notepad menu bar click File --> Open to open File Explorer.

Make sure to select All Files (*.*) from dropdown menu to list all file types.

Use the File Explorer to rename Windows 10 registry hives you are going to replace and replace the Windows 10 registry hives with the hives you have saved.

Reboot your computer when you are finish.

    Kenny,

It does not matter whether you got GPEdit from a '3rd party', the Pope or my Auntie Aggie. You have Windows 10 Home so GPEdit can only be a viewer not a means of setting anything.

You could have bypassed the need for login using netplwiz. There's a TenForumsTutorial on the subject.

I don't know what bat file you are referring to. Without knowing what's in it there is no telling whether its effects can be reversed or not.

About, "my administrator privilege's have been denied everywhere", please post screenshots or photos showing what you mean by this.

I also suggest you enable the Built-In Admin and use it to create a new local, password-protected Admin account [and then disable the Built-In Admin again].

Your comment about Safe mode is encouraging. Is your account's Admin status respected there?
