    start button does not work

Just bought a new HP AIO 22 R3 and all was fine until about an hour later. The start button quit. have read many solutions on the internet.
I have a macrium backup of an image and also the file and folders.
would doing a re install of windows 10 be a quick solution. I would do a diskpart and run clean and then install windows 10 which I downloaded a day ago/

    Hello,

I'm not sure which solutions you have already tried, but you might see if one below may help to fix the Start menu without having to do anything more drastic or involved.

Restart Start Menu in Windows 10

Re-register Start Menu in Windows 10

Restore your Macrium Reflect Image, no need to do a Clean install.

    start key not working.

Good morning Shawn; Well things are bad. It says that it is not registered. that in order to correct it I need to install windows 10 home.
When I first set the machine up it is new and it was windows 10 home edition.
the re install of the image file was from the machine I was replacing and it was windows 10 pro and created on that machine.
I was going to set up an administrator account but it showed my current account as administrator?
in the error msg. it showed I had two two machines.

my old machine goes way back to when windows 10 first came out and we used codes that allowed you to reinstall clean as often as you did.

When you installed Windows 10 Pro, did you have a valid retail product key to activate with?

If not, then it sounds like you may need to reinstall Windows 10 Home on the computer so it will be activated.

An OEM key from one computer cannot be used to activate on another computer.

    start key not working.

Good morning Shawn the windows 10 pro from my old machine goes back to when windows 10 came out we were given keys then.
when I put in the windows 10 home install dvd or usb you are given two choices can I choose the top one I think it gives a choice to retain files but not any apps I installed or perhaps it would be better to copy all my folders and then install them after I get windows 10 home up and running. I still have the the files and folders on Macrium to use also.
Thanks for all the help.HP wanted to charge me for advice since I restored the image file and voided any support.

That's lousy support to void your warranty simply for restoring an image file. They should have at least helped you back to factory default.

It may be best to clean install Windows, and manually restore your files and folders afterwards.
