    Delete corrupt folders

I have a USB drive stick which has somehow got some corrupted folders - see below screens shot. I have no idea how these folders arose, and am trying to delete them.

when I try to delete them in MS dos it fails, saying the syntax is wrong - even though it delete the uncorrputed files.

any idea how to get rid of them

Are you able to save any data off to another drive? If so do it and open Disk Management, delete the partition and then recreate and format. Most Thumb drives come factory-formatted as FAT32 up to 64GB [haven't checked the larger ones yet] but Windows has a limit of 32GB with FAT32. For larger drives such as the 64GB I use the GPARTED program, available downloaded .iso file to create a Bootable LiveCD or GPARTED I have on my Linux machines. Might try DiskPart in Windows.

As for the corruption, I've seen it with clients that remove the drive prematurely/not using the Safely Remove feature.

    A couple of suggestions.

[1] What do the Properties [ right-click Folder ] say?
[2] Have you tried running chkdsk z: /f and chkdsk z: /f /r /x, where z is the USB letter?
