    msvcr100.* missing W10Pro_x64 20h2 build 19042.746

msvcr100.DLL and msvcr100.EXE are missing on my system.
All VC++ have been installed, removed, reinstalled, had a TOTAL WIN re-install with immediate install of VC++ 2010 (and SP1), did this in Safe Mode, Admin Account, I have done CMD (as Admin) SFC, CMD (as admin) chkdsk /f, ... (None found any issue)

No matter WHAT I do... some programs (mainly games) just do NOT find either file, though these ARE in C:\WINDOWS\SYS32 and C:\WINDOWS\SYSWOW64.

Tried pasting these from another installation (came from a previous Win10Pro_x64 version), no result.

Ever since 20h2 I have been having this issue, and no matter what I try, not ball.

    System:
    Mainboard: MSI MAG 460
    Processor: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-10600K CPU @ 4.10GHz 4.10 GHz
    RAM 32.0 GB
    GPU: MSI RTX 3070
    SSD: Samsung 250GB
HDD: 4x Seagate 4TB Green (Eco)

How can I fix this DANG frustrating issue, please?
Anyway to FORCE it to be found/recognized/used?

    Thank you:
    Ben

If need for more information, please ask.

    @Xogroroth

    1. There is no SP1 on Windows 10
    2. I find NO msvcr100.exe, on my C:\ drive at all.
    3. Sometimes in the past, when a game or w/e has said they couldn't find: msvcr100.dll, I just copy it and drop it in that games installation folder.
    4. Sometimes during a game or program's install it will say it needs a different version of: VC++ and asks if it can download and install it. I always let it do that.

I think you will find, and many will agree, that you will end up with something like this, in Programs and Features...

Sometimes, if a game or Program wants an earlier version of VC++, you will have to uninstall the newer version, install the older version and then reinstall the newer version.

    Thank you for replaying, sir.

    1) NO one spoke of an SP1 on WINDOWS.
It was the SP1 from VC++2010, which was, I think, pretty obvious?
    2) When I install the VC++2010's, the files are installed in the mentioned subdirs.
    3) As also clearly stated, this yields no result.
    4) As ALSO stated: the programs do not find it, and nothing is further asked or said: program installations just quit from there on.

    Sir, with all due respect:
    I am NOT dumb.
While, sure, the things I want to install might be not of the latest, but my taste is not the same as yours.
    I prefer older games.

Now, do you, by any chance, know of a solution?
That would help me a lot further...

    Kindest regards:
    Ben

    ADDENDUM:
Please use the information given as just that, and do not twist it into something totally different?
This helps no one, good sir.

I'm not suggesting you are. I'm suggesting that no one is at the helm at Microsoft and/or the game or Program developers concerning VC++.

    I too like older games.
Right now I have Microsoft Links 2003 on here, and last year I had various Baldur's Gate and Icewind Dale Games on here as well.

For possible solution #3, I said drop the msvcr100.dll file in the GAME'S installation directory.

From what I've seen on both Win 7 and Win 10... there is NO easy solution for this problem.
I'm sure you have found the same when Googling for a solution.

    /edit

Another possible way to arrive at a solution, is to Google: msvcr100.dll is missing...
...and add a specific game or program name. Like: msvcr100.dll is missing - SimCity 2000 ...or w/e.

This is not solely a Windows issue. To find a solution for a particular game or program, we have to know what game or program you are having the problem with.

    Thank you for responding:
Tried those steps mentioned, save one, but sadly, also no ball.

Going to try with the 2 files in the install directory.
Well, first I will need to make an install dir to copy the install into...

    Thank you, sir.

I wish there WAS a quick solution. I've battled this myself a few times over the years. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I don't.
Sometimes, just re-installing the game or program, I see an option to download and install the necessary VC++ stuff...and I do it. Sometimes I only see that when I try to install the game or program a 2nd time.

Maybe I should try to revert to an earlier Win build...
This issue is especially annoying in this regard...

    Keep you posted.
