It is telling me that this file is open in system. I know where it came from, it was an invoice . I deleted the file days ago and now left an icon cannot delete. Googled and prefer not to download software. Thank you. Chuck
Double-click on the icon and see what error comes up.
Reboot your computer and try deleting it again.
What program is this invoice associated with?
Type of file ?
Open Task Manager, check if there may be an application running the file in the background.
The invoice was my monthly electric bill. Task manager shows nothing.
Press the Windows key+ R and run
CMD
Then run the following command and post the output.
Dir /a "%USERPROFILE%\Desktop"
Specify which is the file in question.
Try deleting the icon in Safe Mode.
