This Is Good For A Laugh!

I was looking around for a solution to a grayed out power option in system icons and found a link to MajorGeeks, so I clicked on it, Knowing that MajorGeeks is a trusted site, and BAM!! I got this! I actually laughed out loud! Thought it was funny as hell. I fell for folks that have no clue about the internet or computers in general may fall for such a scam. Anyway I thought you'd get a chuck'll over it.

I ran the link several times afterward and it never came back. I guess I was a random hit. Anyway here the link.

I get something very similar and it's only on Edge. It doesn't happen on Chrome.

Do you remember the circumstances that brought the scam up? Funny that Microsoft recommends using Edge to prevent this.

Use Microsoft Edge when browsing the internet. It blocks known support scam sites using Windows Defender SmartScreen (which is also used by Internet Explorer). Furthermore, Microsoft Edge can stop pop-up dialogue loops used by these sites.

Edge of Knight - solution. When I got those on my W7, I had to terminate the browser. Ran SUPERAntiSpyware and Malwarebytes Anti-Malware on-demand scans to ensure nothing to or from laptop.

I was redirected from the MajorGeeks link to the scam page. I also, just for sh*$! and giggles ran Malwarebytes and found some PUP's. but that's about it. Come to think of it I should have copied the link address and ran a trace on it.

I know you did not have kittens over the pups :) What pups did you find? I am surprised MajorGeeks was scammed into giving that site out.
