    This looks beneficial, (the fixes) with some hardware I still have, believe it or not. I have systems from far back enough that Asus still supports XP. Also, Halo Custom Edition, because of the original EAX, which has to be emulated in Vista and later! If people don't like how the EAX emulation is working on Vista and later, I can imagine some Halo Custom Edition gurus going back to XP.

    This thread, reminds me of what the gents over at MSFN, do.

    This post is mostly because of Microsoft removing DirectSound for Vista and later.

    Halo Custom Edition 1.0.10, is very well alive still! Seeing a good amount of servers with players.

    Thank you Freeman for posting this information.

    I currently use a m/b that supports XP, but I am just now wanting to upgrade my m/b. A lot of valuable information has been given in this thread. I feel confident that can proceed, and not have to maintain a pc that is only used for XP.

    I use XP for my CAD Software, which is more expensive to upgrade than I care to endure. It's also still better than most of the free CAD software available, not to mention a new learning curve.

    I have been building my own systems for over 40 years. I need to scratch that itch.
