Windows XP 2021 - system build for the modern PC
-
Most of the software released before 2014 works in XP up to now, with no apparent problems. And modern versions of archivers, antiviruses, video and audio players, file managers, office programs, image viewers also support XP - which covers the needs of most users. Browsers do not have any problems either. There are at least 3 popular browsers supported in 2020 Windows XP - for example 360E on Chrome version 69 and 78, there is Maxton used to be as an alternative to IE, there is Basilisk - for those who prefer FireFox interface. I use 360E on the 69th engine - it supports all plugins from Chromium market, goes to all sites, no problems with display of "modern" sites. Also in chrome.dll you can correct number and write version 80 or version 100 - it's very good that the developers do not crypt that file. It means that the browser will last at least for 5 years even if the sites will demand a new version of Chrome and the Chinese will stop supporting it and they are not going to do it. )))
The highly specialized programs working only in Win8/Win10 usually have an old version (normally working in XP) or even needed by 1% of users, and 99% of them do not see the need in them. For example, specific design packages for 3D modeling under Windows 10 - a couple of people work in them, the other 99% of users will make do with Windows XP 2020, which is 20 times lighter, has a fast/responsive interface and works fine on a PC whether it's 2005 or 2020. But there is also specific software for Windows XP that doesn't work in the new Win10. I have a lot of such software: on Windows XP 2020 it works, on Windows 7 it already has problems, on Windows 8|10 it doesn't work at all.
There is nothing fundamentally new from 2014-2020. For example, Photoshop CS6 (2013 release) works without problems on XP, although I'm fine with Photoshop 7.0 (2005). I just don't see the point of using Photoshop 2019. Functionally the 2005 level program is enough, if it's not enough - I'll switch to 2013. Windows XP 2020 users are quite conservative - they don't run for updates and rarely change versions. If you consider that programs newer than 2016, have a smartphone-tailored interface, ala Win10 style - minimalistic icons, huge white fields, built-in telemetry, very non-optimal code with consuming 10 times more resources - then in Windows XP 2020 such programs - I would not use, even if they worked

For example there's still XP systems around running incredibly expensive machine tools -- that hardware has a life span of maybe 50 years or so e.g Road building gear , JCB's, power station control switch gear, etc , etc and costs maybe 250,000 USD or more !!! -- why should people chuck that sort of hardware "in the bin" if its still working perfectly -- road diggers etc don't need the latest and greatest modern CPU's to function !!!!
Well said. Are "Kinetic Plasma Cutting System" at work use's XP for it's interface and network connectivity to the servers up in the office for it programs to cut steel to spec. It cost... $250.000?? NO. $1.500.000. We have the largest in western Canada with a table 250 FT in length and 12 FT wide and not one but fore torches plus the plasma and rotating drills. And get this! Inside the control interface panel it has ISA control boards! Remember those?? I had the opportunity to peek inside when it was open for maintenance. I found it fascinating the such old hardware would be integrated into such an expensive unit. But Win XP works well with it.

Hi there
@Lance1
Most of our Volcano testing sites run with Windows XP or (a little better W2K3) !! in spite of us having almost the fastest broadband speeds on the planet.
Nobody's going to hack into those --remember the last time back in April 2010 there was even a "little" eruption in Iceland and the devastation to international flight schedules etc that caused.
WinXP and W2K3 did the job efficiently and without problems.
If anybody wants to hack into monitoring of the Eyjafjallajökull volcano monitoring site(s) well good luck to them !!!!
Reminder folks :
Overlooking the Eyjafjallajökull glacier and the ongoing volcano eruption from Hvolsvöllur on April 17th, 2010.
"Be careful for what you wish for " !!!!
Cheers

Eyjafjallajökull?? WHAT!!??
Hi there
@Lance1
no prob for me -- but then trying some French words -- that's just as difficult for us !!!!
Iceland also has its share of bad politicians too -- that's a world wide problem
however you might like this :
Ministers! Always Remember The Public Inquiry Code:
BEFORE "This is not the time."
DURING "I can't talk about the ongoing inquiry."
AFTER "We need to put this behind us."
Anyway please stay safe and hope vaccination program is being rolled out in Canada OK.
Cheers

xHCI USB 3.0 driver for Windows XP on modern hardware
The USB controllers on modern motherboards work in XHCI mode. By default Windows XP only supports EHCI controllers and you need a driver for XHCI support. In this archive you will find a USB 3.0 driver ported from Windows 8 to Windows XP. USB drivers must be used with a modified ACPI driver, without the correct ACPI, the USB XHCI driver will not even install.
Installation:
When installing Windows XP from scratch, you need to integrate USB3_from_Win8 (NEW) + acpi.sys into the distribution using nLite. How to do this was previously posted, read the forum. When replacing the driver in the installed system, first replace ACPI, then use "Device Manager" to update both components: first "USB 3.0 Root Hub" and then "USB 3.0 xHCI Host Controller". Note that the protection of the OS may return old files, keep an eye on this.
Nuances:
v2.3.3.XXX = Generation 1 drivers are the most stable versions, I recommend using v2.3.3b14.zip - UPLOAD.EE - WinXP-IE_Optional_Patch_Integrator_v2.3.3b14.zip - Download
v2.3.4.XXX = Generation 2 drivers - newer versions, more complicated to install. You need to manually copy files ntoskrn8.sys and storport.sys, taken from Integrator Files\Patches\Miscellaneous and also files wdf01000.sys and wdfldr.sys, taken from "Kernel-Mode Driver Framework 1.11" to folder c:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers
Software to extract drivers from installed OS (Double Driver v4.0.1 + DriverExtractor v2.0) - UPLOAD.EE - DriverSoft.zip - Download
WinXP-IE Optional Patch Integrator (all versions):
Version of May 12, 2020 - UPLOAD.EE - WinXP-IE_Optional_Patch_Integrator_v2.3.1b1.zip - Download
Version of May 31, 2020 - UPLOAD.EE - WinXP-IE_Optional_Patch_Integrator_v2.3.3b12.zip - Download
Version of June 02, 2020 - UPLOAD.EE - WinXP-IE_Optional_Patch_Integrator_v2.3.3b14.zip - Download
Version of June 10, 2020 - UPLOAD.EE - WinXP-IE_Optional_Patch_Integrator_v2.3.3b18.zip - Download
Version of June 16, 2020 - UPLOAD.EE - WinXP-IE_Optional_Patch_Integrator_v2.3.3b20.zip - Download
Archive of all existing 24 versions for "May - August" 2020 (280 MB) - WinXP-IE_Optional_Patch_Integrator_(24_version) (1).zip — Yandex.Disk
Last versions:
Stable version of the drivers from September 9, 2020 is v2.3.4 - WinXP-IE Optional Patch Integrator v2.3.4 Stable.zip — Yandex.Disk
On January 04, 2021, a new BETA version of the "WinXP-IE Optional Patch Integrator v2.4.0b3" kit was released:

Interesting you can make XP work just fine today on new hardware.
