Black Screen after "preparing automatic repair"

Yesterday, my HP Envy 17 j177nr was working flawlessly. However, today I was experiencing lots of lags and freezes to the point where the laptop is unusable

I decided to power off and on three times to attempt some kind of repair. However, after it says "preparing automatic repair" I ALWAYS get a black screen, no cursor, no nothing. It does NOT move beyond that black screen. It will stay at that black screen all day if I let it.

I tried ALL steps on the internet to fix it, including removing all peripherals including the power cord and battery and holding the power button for 30 second which everybody says that fixes the problem—except it DOES NOT for me. It still goes into "preparing automatic repair" and to that black screen afterwards.

I ran the HP HDD and memory test and all pass with flying colors.

Does anybody know how to fix this?

I still suspect a bad drive. Unless it's the connection to it.

I doubt that it is a bad drive. It is not even a year old. Upgraded from 1 TB to brand new 2 TB April 2020

I was able to get past the black screen by plugging the laptop in but leaving the battery out and then I followed these instructions: How to disable automatic repair on Windows 10 | Windows Central

However, now I receive the following error message at startup:

Your PC/Device needs to be repaired
an unexpected error occurred error code 0xc000000f

Which Google has absolutely nothing on that message. Only spammy dodgy results.

Startup repair just tells me that repairs cannot be made and while there IS restore points on this PC, it always hangs on "restoring files"

    What else to do?

    These are some options:

    a) check the drive
    b) perform a reset save files equivalent (reinstall drivers and applications)
    c) clean install after backing up important files
    d) troubleshoot the failure to boot

Are you able to access the bios and if so,then enter the boot menu section and check the first boot option.
Removing the mobo battery only resets the bios to the default setting, absolutely nothing to do with Win 10.
The three power on/off selections has started the Automatic Repair mode, the problem now is that you do not have any recovery type system from which to recover.
If you have access to another computer, try using the media creation tool and make another win 10 and/or recovery tool,to boot from it.

I tried these instructions after booting from a flash drive made with the media creation tool but I always get the following error message: Use DISM to Repair Windows 10 Image

    "Error: 126

The specified module could not be found"

I made sure that I was using the right drive letter for the source by doing the diskpart thing

Google has NO information on this error with DISM. ONLY other things not related to DISM

The log says "could not load the image session" HRESULT=8007007E which Google says "no results for"

    What now?

I NEED my PC running because I stream and do schoolwork yet NOBODY on this forums wants to help me for whatever reason.

Why am I being refused help (but others are not)

Is this the problem you have been moaning about in your posts in other threads?

Personally, I think you should run SFC before going any further.
    SFC-DISM - TenForumsTutorials

And then consider running a Repair install.
Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade - TenForumsTutorials

And then return to investigating the disk itself if there is any concrete evidence against it. Its youth is no reason to ignore the possibility but I have not seen anything in this thread to make me suspect the disk.

Don't go interrupting other people's threads again.
