How can I import images Android 5.0 mobile phone using a USB cable?

    Hello

How can I import images from my Android 5.0 mobile phone using a USB cable?
Should I set my Android mobile phone (Samsung Galaxy Note 3) to "MTP" or "PTP"?

Can I just use Windows Explorer? If so how - it doesn't seem to recognise the format.
I can't get Microsoft Photos to work.

I hate Google with a passion and don't wish to use any Google apps.

    With thanks

Is this just occasionally, one or 2 at a time, or mass batch?

So why use a android phone as it's all Google based?

The easiest way is to use the Google Photo app.....it's on by default....as that's were all your phone pictures go. Then use Chrome, sign in to chrome, go to google photos and download 1, 2, 3 or 10, 20 or all of them to your PC.

I pull the MicroSDXC card from my wife's phone, put it in the SD card adapter it came with then plug that into a Notebook to copy the photos.
