OK, I'll call it solved. It seems as if the Pro version shouldn't cause me problems.

Pro will be fine. I’d almost bet you won’t be able to tell any difference.
No, none whatsoever. I have both on various machines and use then interchangeably. There's no practical difference, just a few extra features in Pro (that you're free to ignore).
There is a practical difference in the initial setup. There is an extra step at the beginning where you choose between setting up for business use (ie. joining a company's domain) and for personal use. Once you choose personal use the subsequent steps are identical to setting up Home.
I've not seen that. Whenever I've set up Pro the offline account option was available. Home however will insist on the initial account being a Microsoft account, not offering the offline local account option unless you disconnect from the internet before starting the setup. To be sure, just make sure you don't connect until the initial setup is completed.NavyLCDR said:
The Pro version has several useful features including Group Policy editor which is still useful for configuring a stand alone PC.
@TairikuOkami Is home really lighter? I was under the impression that they were identical, but with some features disabled in Home.
Just a note, the x86/32-bit Version downloaded file is a bit smaller than the x64/64-bit Version, might give the impression it is "lighter". Doesn't make a lot of difference in the install as the Product Key or preinstalled Version determines whether Home or Pro gets activated.
In practical use of Home vs Pro, there is no difference except that Pro has has additional capabilities. In normal usage you will never notice a difference.
I have not used Home ever, except in testing. I always feel like it is nice to have the extra capabilities available even if you may not have a need for them at the moment.
