How to create a new folder

This might sound like a simple question but it just doesn't want to work for me in Win10.

I click on the folder bar in the footer. I navigate to the folder I want to create another folder in. I click on the new folder bar in the top menu, and nothing happens. I'm not prompted to name a new folder. This has been like this for a long time. And now it's urgent.

Right-click on the Start button -->Windows PowerShell. Run the following command:

    MkDir "C:\A folder\A new folder"

Replace "C:\A folder\A new folder" with the actual path.

That worked. Thank you. But why can I not create a folder from within windows? I'm sure I used to do that?

Right-click on the Start button ---Windows PowerShell (Admin).
Run the following command and post the output.

    sfc /scannow

It will scan the system files for errors, which could be the cause of your problem.

In a folder, right-click on any empty space ---▶ New ---▶ Folder
    Does it work?

    Stu,

Perhaps it's just a Refresh problem rather than a folder creation problem.

The next time is seems to fail, press F5 or right-click, Refresh.

Nope. When I right click I get the

That didn't work also. When I click New Folder, New Item, Folder, I get a blue square rectangle on the first folder. But not prompt to enter a new folder name. After that, Refesh does nothing.

Does the item "Folder" exist at your end? It is just above "Shortcut".

If "Folder" is missing from the context menu, see the following tutorial:
