Windows 10: Folder View Settings and Desktop Icon Positions Not Saving

just a question , but does eset cleaner module break only windows 10 or windows 8.1 and 7 too ?

In regedit go to those 2 destinations

HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\Wow6432Node\CLSID\{42aedc87-2188-41fd-b9a3-0c966feabec1}\InProcServer32\
and
HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\CLSID\{42aedc87-2188-41fd-b9a3-0c966feabec1}\InProcServer32\

Double click on (Default) and replace "%SystemRoot%\SysWow64\shell32.dll" with "%SystemRoot%\system32\windows.storage.dll" in both file destinations then restart your PC and everything should work fine !!

I tried to to this but I get the "Error Editing Value" message. I guess this has to do with not having permission to edit the keys. So anyone know how to take ownership of the keys and then change the ownership back to SYSTEM?

These are the 2 reg files for the FIX for those who don't know how to use regedit
Just double click and click yes to everything then restart PC

Tried this too but keep on getting the "you have insufficient privileges to perform this operation" message.

1. I just posted how to change permission
2. There are many websites and videos out there to show you how to do it
3. ALWAYS REMEMBER that you have to change permission of the last FOLDER in the TREE then make your way UP, in this case all you only have to do it to 2 FOLDERS which i mentioned above.

Yess sorry, I guess you posted that while I was positing my post so I didn't see it.

Thanks for the help about how to change permissions. I did it and now the problem is fixed.

Both the folder view settings and the desktop icon ploblems are now fixed after changing the keys.



But how do you change back the change the keys ownership back to default?

Hi, can you confirm those two keys only exist if you have ESET Nod32 installed? Thanks.
