    exactly! (KB3087040)
Ok I found a tool called wushowhide.diagcab that helped to do de-select drives from installing via Windows Update.

Checked for new updates. KB3087040 and KB3081455 downloaded but like all others faced, KB3087040 failed to install. Did rebooting few times and folder view settings and desktop icons arrangement are working fine. So I doubt the update is the cause.

    FYI, I'm using Comodo now.

You can use system restore to the point where there was no bug. If you don't have restore points then reset is the only option now.

Yes if you do fresh install by formatting windows drive ( C Drive ) then you will lose all apps, files and activation.

To preserve activation, use reset option in Settings -> Update & Security -> Recovery -> Reset this PC. There choice delete all apps and files in Windows Drive BUT NOT ALL DRIVES. Note: Keeping apps or files doesn't solve the folder/desktop bug. Also the process to reset takes nearly 2 hours. Only do this if you wanna preserve activation otherwise formatting and installing Windows 10 is faster way.

Restore option can only save files and apps till that point but if you cannot do it then you are out of luck.

We all love ESET but it broke our hearts </3

To everyone who wants to do a clean install of Windows 10 to get this bug away from their skins...
    1. You can create another partition in your hard disk drive / solid state drive, then move all the files that you don't want to lose in that new partition.
    2. After moving your files, you can now format the old/default partition that contains your Windows files (Local Disk C).
