    File Explorer sorting files issue

I don’t know why File Explorer is showing these files on top, as the “date created” is older
I rebuilt the index and it’s still doing the same.
I copied those two files at the top to another folder and it was sorted correctly.

    Any help much appreciated

You can click each column heading to rearrange as desired, new at top or old at top. Same for the other column headings. It's just like doing it in a spreadsheet program like Excel.

    Antonio,

FE does not sort files & folders together. It sorts your files. It sorts your folders. Sometimes it shows all the files first & sometimes it shows all the folders first.

I tried that to no avail. Thanks for your answer.

here it's showing these two misplaced files first (NTUSER.dat and Sti_Trace.log) then the rest of stuff is in proper order. I noticed these types of issues before on other computers too if I remember rightly, this makes me not trust File Explorer much really.
    Thanks for your answer.

    Antonio,

In the diagram you posted, FE shows the files correctly sorted and then it shows the folders correctly sorted.

    Nothing is misplaced.

    Are we talking at cross-purposes?

    Antonio,

If you ever want to see both files and folders sorted together instead of separately then you can achieve this temporarily [and only temporarily] by putting
    Code:
    *
    [an asterisk]
in the FE search box and searching on that. This sorted view will not be retained though, it is merely a search result.
