Desktop becomes black/Taskbar unresponsive when waking up from standby

I'm thinking it has to do with either using 452.06 after installing the 20h2 update, something on my end after I cleaned up my pc (my hand slipped which accidently dropped the screwdriver onto the gpu's pcb. trying to screw in the cpu fans onto the h80i radiator), or trying to update the drivers during the windows update installation.

For starters

- I used the dism after sfc found errors.
- CrystalDiskInfo shows both my ssd and hdd are fine which it doesn't have any sector errors.

Even after that incident I played Genshin Impact and TF2, which it runs really good so I'm guessing the gpu's fine? Although this desktop becomes black/taskbar unresponsive happend 2 times one is which on december 12th where the 20h2 update rolled in and the second time today. Although I fixed that by using ctrl+alt+del and logged out and logged back in. Afterwards I tried using sfc /scannow and Windows didn't find any errors.

The windows 10 version I'm using right now is Version 20h2 (OS Build 19042.685).

Also I keep getting those blank files after I moved them out of my desktop. I had to move it back to desktop then moved it out again. Anything else I can do to solve this?

This could happen because of graphic card driver try the latest or previous version of the driver from graphic card manufacturer website.

Sorry about the delete post. I was going to reply to this thread but somehow my 2nd reply must've been deleted. Dang it mobile phone. Anyway, it happened again when I'm using current drivers. The screen wakes itself up black (but the othwr monitor which is plugged ibto the mobo does not wake itself up) and I have to wake up using my mouse to get back into desktop. However, the taskbar doesn't work so I have to log back out and log back out again. Is there anything else I can do about his situation in hand?

Updating the BIOS of the computer should always be considered as the last resort to fix the black screen problem on the Windows 10 PC when you try to use it after sleep mode. However, if nothing else fixes the problem, then this solution certainly will.

This is what I'd feared. I'm scared that I might borked it in the process of updating the bios. Now I looked at the page you linked and I'm sure that fast start up was disabled in the bios. I'll check more of it when I wake up from sleep. Do you also think a gpu damage may cause this?

You should disable Fast Startup from Windows 10 Power Options applet.
No if GPU damaged you will see more than just black screen.

I looked at the power options in the control panel as instructed by the link you've gave me and I don't see fast start-up options in there.

I see, when it happened laat night, I tested out kovaak's and tf2 and they run okay as I tested out for a few minutes. Although the taskbar was unresponsive and edge just frozed on the second monitor.

If you disabled hibernation you are already disabled the Fast Startup.

Yup! I'd already disabled hibernation using power cfg /h off command in the command prompt (admin). Right now I've rolled back to 451.06 and the older intel drivers from august.

During standby the first monitor which was plugged in by the gpu wakes up on its own to a black screen while the 2nd monitor which was plugged in by the igpu didn't. I'd get the feeling that it may be the latest igpu drivers doing it. I mean I waited out 2 days for that to happened. It doesn't happen right away.
