what's the problem switching selective to normal startup?

see right here, before I selected normal startup, it was on selective startup.
When I changed to normal startup I got the bsod 0xc000000e winload.exe error, and no boot.

Had to load the RE off flash and run commands to fixmbr and rebuildbcd.
Is it just my PC like that?
I just looked at another of my pc, and it is also on selective startup. If I switch to normal will it crash the boot?

How about if i return from normal to selective startup on the PC I had to repair the boot, will it again crash?

Mine has always been set to selective, through no deliberate action of my own.

It does seem counter-intuitive...you'd think "normal" would be the default.

But others have noticed this as well and there has been commentary about it on this forum in the past.

I can't recall if I ever changed to "normal" to see what would happen. I probably have, but if so I certainly can't recall a blue screen. I don't think I've had a BSOD in maybe 15 years.

I went looking and other people this happens to them too. I recommend no one switches to normal startup.

When Windows loads in a Normal startup, it loads several programs and non Microsoft Services at Windows bootup. Most of this is not necessary to function the computer. If you choose to do a Clean Boot, or just to stop some apps from loading with Windows, it will list this as Selective Startup. You can leave it this way, it does no harm, as most programs except for Anti-Virus do not need to run at Startup.

I just tried switching it back to selective startup and I cant...
Go back and look it's on normal startup. I had unchecked and rechecked an option so the apply button was active.

on another PC set to selective, the bottom check box, use original boot configuration is unchecked, but on this pc, it is greyed out and checked.

Most people like us do a lot of customizing to their PC`s, so they end up with a Selective Startup.

My computer has always been set to Normal startup. In fact every computer I've had was set to Normal startup by default. I do some customizing but Normal startup is always set.
