Shortcut: Change path to open specific file. [Solved]

I encountered this on a forum years ago.

In a shortcut's Properties it is possible to
add a specific file for the program to open
    to by default.

    Can't remember the correct syntax.

    The program:
    "C:\Program Files\paint.net\PaintDotNet.exe"

The file I want to use:
    C:\Users\14152\Desktop\8Cx6C STOCK.png

    Any clues?

This should give you enough info:

    paintdotnet: Protocol

The underlying question is 'what are the command line parameters for the program'?

If I understand you right, you are after the program's 'command line switches'.

    This should help:

    Thank you for your responses.

Is there a way this can be packaged to
work from a simple desktop shortcut?

Yes, use the information provided to launch the program with the appropriate parameter.

That's why we have found the information for you. Have you read the items for which links have been given? Those give you information you need.

Example: I wish to create a shortcut such that when I double click it, Wordpad is launched and opens a specific document.
In the create shortcut dialogue I browse as appropriate and create a string thus:

    "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows NT\Accessories\wordpad.exe" "C:\Users\dalaw\Desktop\Rakuten movie.rtf"

The first is the path to wordpad. The second is the document.

The shortcut with the wordpad icon to the top right is one I previously created like this.

Thanks for that. It's working now.

I had failed to leave a space between the end of
the program path and the beginning of the file path.
