    ODD PROBLEM: "Windows Search" Only Finding Folders?


    Hi all,

    When I do a search in the Windows 10 "Search bar" in the top right hand corner I only seem to get back "Windows Folder" search results that contain the word I searched for, but not individual files like .DOC files...

    I can find the .DOC files by just looking myself in "Windows Explorer" but for some reason these files don't appear in the "Search Bar"?

    Is there something I can try without installing a 3rd party app?

    My "Windows Search" was working fine recently so I don't know why it's not working now...

    "Windows Search" is really important to me so I hope I can get this working...

    Hi, are you doing a content search, or search by name?

    If by content, please also post a screenshot like this:

    Please post a screenshot by way of explanation, showing the search string you are using and the files you hope to find, and where they are in the file hierarchy compared to where file explorer is open.

    I.e. the search works down from where you are, if you see what I mean.

    You mention .doc - is that the only file type you can't find?
