Remove Acronis folder from EFI partition

    Hi ,

Acronis True Image gave me a lot of headache. I uninstalled it using revo uninstaller. However, when i use a partition master and explore the EFI folder. I can see a folder called Acronis. In this Acronis folder there are two files. Bootwiz.efi and Bootwiz.XML.

Can I remove this Acronis folder. If so how do I remove it?

Yes, it can be removed. Revo would have no way of accessing that because EFI partition has no drive letter.

2 options, try #1 first see what happens.

    1) Run the Acronis Clean as described here. I cannot test, I don't have Acronis.

    2) Using the partition tool you have, temporarily assign a drive letter to the EFI partition, use Explorer to delete (perm) the folder(s). Remove the drive letter back to "none".

I use MiniTool Partition tool Best Free Partition Manager Software Tool for Windows (Sep 2019)

Thanks a to for your input f14tomcat. I had tried the Acronis Cleanup Utility from the same link. It did not work.

I think the second suggestion should work.

But I found another solution which worked. I used All-in-one Solution for Data Recovery, Partition Manager and Data Backup - DiskGenius and surprisingly I could delete the folder from EFI partition. I tried other partition software which I tried earlier ( EaseUS, MiniTool, AOMIE) but I could not delete this folder with these softwares.

    TC,

Thanks for that link. Just what I want to keep handy so I can find out what to do in an emergency.

This is just typical of poorly engineered Acronis software which leaves behind remnants which are hard to remove

Yes. I was a big fan of Acronis till for a NVME disk clone, it messed up my laptop. Never will touch it. Moved to Macrium. Very happy with it.
