    Meet Now

That appeared on my taskbar today.

I looked around and seems it can be hidden from the taskbar, but it seems that it can not be removed from the PC.
I really resent the way that Microsoft seems to be forcing apps on us these days. This is just bloatware as far as I am concerned. I have a paid version of Windows 10 and expect to be able to say whether I want this sort of junk on my system or not!
    Rant over!

Apps are updated in the background about every 4 hours.

Windows 10 has a moving specification - this is what you've bought into.

This seems to be related to Skype. If you don't use Skype- uninstall it.

And it should be easy enough to dismiss the button ..

IINM it is enabled by the store version of Skype.

The tenforums link provided by dalchina should suffice, but if you really want to completely remove it, try uninstalling Skype.

If you do need Skype, then install the desktop (non-store) version.

I don't have the store version of Skype but I do have it bundled with Office 2016 from which it cannot be uninstalled. Hence I am stuck with Meet Now which I don't need, nor do I need Skype.

I have Skype installed, but I have no use for Meet Now, so I hid the icon.

    Done.

@Steve C Have you actually tried the instructions above?

You might try something like this, or searching for whatever exactly fits your scenario:
    https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...f-5a9f9e67cc08

    I searched for
    office 2016 remove skype

Or perhaps it's an installation option.

You might try starting to repair/modify your office installation, and see if there is an option to remove it as a feature.
If there's not, no need to do more than start that to see what options exist, then cancel if nothing appropriate.

My version of Office 2016 installs all programs. There is no selective install option.

Then hide what you don't want and use Autoruns to stop unnecessary startups.
