    Tia;

    If this is not the right forum , Please aim me at the proper one .
    Files and Folders all marked as 'Read Only' ?
    I don't know how this happened , but it started yesterday .
    I am trying to backup Folders to flash drive , but the Read-only get propagated there also , and I am unable to delete those Folders from flash drive .
    Using the right-click > properties > remove read-only doesn't work .
    Then again 'right-click > properties >' shows still 'read-only' .
    Pls , how to fix this ?

    Hi, by default, folders are marked read only, but this doesn't mean they are. I know, it seems odd. Files are not.

    Have you made any specific changes yourself of any kind?

    Noted you are on an older build, 1903. Does this mean Windows update isn't working?

    Try running a couple of routine checks: from an admin command or Powershell prompt run
    chkdsk c: /scan
    If ok, similarly run
    sfc /scannow

    These are integrity checks only and not likely to fix this.

    Thanks dalchina;
    Tried your recommended tests 'found no integrity violations' .
    The article is for vista , so I don't want to mess with it .

    After I did windows update
    Forced read-only has been shut off .
    Now its an option .
    So I a happy again .
    Thanks
