File explorer custom searching

    it's not just the calendar but size too

    I can't believe this is just GONE. That is utterly ____________________.
    OK, i will look into 3rd party utilities or just print out the syntax.

    As of builds 19045.3754 and higher (19045.3803 for most users) the pop-up calendar and pop-up size selectors in the Search box are back in Windows 10.

    This happened because Microsoft removed the "new" search feature, that we had from 2019 to late 2023, reverting Windows 10 to the "classic" search. This was done, presumably, to meet EU requirements to decouple Bing search from Explorer.

    You can switch back to the "new" search with a vivetool /enable /id:18755234 or as one of the options available in WinSetView.

Whenever I start to type in the search field, I never get to finish typing because explorer opens a new window right away after the first character. EDIT: Also, double clicking folders opens a new window as well.
