Is there a way to Screen Print Active Window straight to PNG?

Question: Is there a way of saving Screen Captures/Prints of JUST an active window as a PNG to the Screenshots directory like you can with [Start/Win + Print Scrn]?
    [Alt + Start/Win + Print Scrn] doesn't even capture to clip-board.

    What I know -
With windows there are a couple of ways of going about saving screen prints:
    - You can press [Print Scrn] to capture the whole desktop or [Alt + Print Scrn] to capture just the active window. Either of these will capture what is currently on screen to your clip-board. Once you have your screen prints in your clip-board, you paste it into an image program to save or edit it.
    - Alternatively there are two other was of saving Screen Prints while skipping image programs all together. First is using the "Snipping Tool" or "Snip and Sketch", both built-in apps in Windows. However, My favorite is [Start + Print Scrn]. This one is best for me because it creates a PNG of your screen print with just a key stroke. I don't have to worry about opening any other programs or saving name/location. I can just change that latter if need be. BUT the problem I'm running into I use multiple monitors... so when I do [Start/Win + Print Scrn], it saves a huge image spanning the two or three monitors in use. And this can be enormous since I use 4k resolution (with scaling) on one.

What I'd like to know is if there is a way of using the same process as [Start/Win +Print Scrn], except capture just the active window. I've tried adding "alt" (so, [Alt + Start/Win + Print Scrn]), but it doesn't do anything, literally. Oddly it doesn't even copy to the clip board. Does any one know?

EDIT: I changed the use of quotes to brackets to better define hotkeys.

Alt + prt sc captures the live window but you need Paint or similar to paste.

    Edit,

I've not used this app but worth a look, How to save clipboard image to file on Windows 10

You can set up GREENSHOT to do the entire screen with one key and dump it anywhere you like in the format you prefer.

@Fabler2 - Yes, Im aware. The following is in my initial post:
"You can press [Print Scrn] to capture the whole desktop or [Alt + Print Scrn] to capture just the active window. Either of these will capture what is currently on screen to your clip-board."
    Not interested in add-on programs
@bfunke - The following is also in my intial post:
"First is using the "Snipping Tool" or "Snip and Sketch", both built-in apps in Windows."

@The Pool Man - The following is also in my initial post:
"My favorite is [Start + Print Scrn]. This one is best for me because it creates a PNG of your screen print with just a key stroke. I don't have to worry about opening any other programs or saving name/location. I can just change that latter if need be."

    To everyone/anyone:
Is there an alternative key-stroke (NOT app/program) to [Start/Win + Print Scrn] that instantly creates an image file of whatever is screen printed, except for active windows only? I have tried [Alt + Start/Win + Print Screen], but it doesn't do anything. Doesn't even capture to clipboard.

    varxtis,

Thanks for the rep. Once I'd stopped playing around [a few years ago now] and accepted that only whole-screen screenshots had the convenience of WinKey+PrntScrn in Windows 10, I just started to routinely take whole-screen screenshots then crop them to show only the bits of interest. I find this particularly useful for posting in TenForums and for keeping notes of important changes to computer settings.

You can crop diagrams in MSPaint.

I have Office 2007 still so I use its MSOffice Picture manager because that makes cropping them a real breeze. I'm not sure but I think Office 2010 also had that application but it was removed for later versions.

Whole-screen screenshot to cropped area in 10 seconds.

Suppose you have some apps open like this --

Are you asking for a way to do a capture just like that? Or a way to capture only the calendar and calculator but nothing else? Or a way to only capture one of those apps?

Also -- what do you care if an app is installed if it provides the exact utility you are requesting?

Yes, that's what the OP asked for.
