Why is my taskbar flashing after updating to 2004?

I don't see any updates happening or anything. Is this normal?

I can tell you it's not normal.

I would try to fix it with: Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade This will probably be the fastest way to fix it. If you don't have a Windows 2004 ISO: UUP dump

I think that it already stopped. But I'm still wondering what caused it though.

Windows works in mysterious ways sometimes 1st fix is to reboot your PC when weird things happen.

And I have one more question. When should I expect the computer to automatically check for updates again? It didn't do it yet today, so will it happen later today, or do I have to wait till tomorrow for it to automatically check for them again?

The default interval for Windows Update's automatic checks is 22 hour, minus a random factor of up to 20% (to spread out the load of the update servers).

So, I should probably expect for it to check for them soon? And what should I do if it doesn't check for them? Especially since it's Patch Tuesday tomorrow.

You can always just check manually if you want to.

We here will make a full backup and suggest you do the same before patch Tuesday which can easily become nightmare Tuesday for some: Repair Install Windows 10 with an In-place Upgrade

Or disable update checking for 7 days and watch what other people are reporting

If you mean flashing occasionally right after booting up, and after an upgrade then this is normal behavior. Windows updates your UWP apps in the background causing the taskbar to flash when updating icons. UWP apps are updated through the Microsoft store and not Windows Update.

    Okay. That explains it then.

So, even if I don't check for the updates manually, Patch Tuesday will still happen for me as it normally does?
