sleep versus hibernate versus hybrid sleep

    How to enter hybrid sleep?

For a long time, but not forever on win10, this Asus 2 in 1 laptop can never awake from sleep, it hard locks in sleep when it goes to sleep on its own, And usually hard locks within a few minutes. I told it NEVER to shut down when on AC power, so this problem is better than it was. IT was happening on battery or AC power.

I was able to activate hibernate and it awakes with power button when I manually tell it to hibernate.
The problem happens when it does sleep on its own timer.

I tried this command here, so looking for additional help on sleep variations and why this thing is messed up. Trying anything to make it work. I dont know yet if it helped it.

By lock I mean, the power key is lit up bright, solid, all buttons are unresponsive, only fix is to hold the power key down till it reboots.

What’s the Difference Between Sleep and Hibernate in Windows?
Talks about setting up hybrid sleep, never says how to enter hybrid sleep, see its badly written.
Does she then mean 'hibernate' in the power menu has become hybrid sleep when you click the power button?????

If Hybrid sleep is missing after Windows 10 update, here's what to do

Is it supposed to actually say 'hybrid sleep' when you click the power button? All I have is sleep and hibernate.

I suggest you go to the Asus support site and get another copy of the display driver then install it.
While you're there, check for any Bios updates.

You can turn on hybrid sleep in Power options, <current power plan>, Change advanced settings.
Hybrid sleep - The Old New Thing
    - There is no display of its name. It is either on or it is off. If it is on then telling your computer to sleep makes it go into hybrid sleep.
    - I don't suggest altering as important a setting as this until you have resolved your current issue.

This extract from Win7 Help is the clearest explanation I have seen

I went to advanced setting and turned hybrid sleep to on when on battery, just now.
since I use an NVME drive, it should be able to hybrid sleep safely.

Do you see a 'hybrid sleep' in the shut down menu???

Hybrid sleep generate a hibernate file before entering in sleep state.
If it doesn't wake up from sleep and you have to shutdown, next time you start the computer it will recover from hibernation.

I just tried it again, it wont wake, and the power light is lit. Every time it dies like this, the power light gets lit up. I have to hold it in till it turns off.
Every time it does this, I also have to turn on the keyboard backlight, restart all programs that were running.
It is like you yank the cord from wall on a desktop.

I mean it is broken somehow and my thinking its software, everything works when its on. And it used to sleep fine several windows 10 versions ago. At least the NVME drive boots it very fast. If it was a spinner drive, this would be a lot more obnoxious.

Been living with it for a year like this.

No, just the normal Sleep entry

Well then, download & reinstall whichever one you want. There is no other method for eliminating the possibility that the symptoms you are seeing are caused by the installed display driver having become corrupted.

    Download Intel(R) Graphics - Windows(R) 10 DCH Drivers
I installed this so will see if it fixes it. Except I dont understand why Intel's own update web page for drivers would give me bad drivers as in this page here. That is illogical.
    Intel(R) Driver & Support Assistant
which checks my system automatically for old drivers and updates the drivers on all my intel hardware.
