before messing with the registry I thought that I would try the information from Jacee. I did the first step with permissions since I have my computer set to install updates automatically. After restart, it states "After verifying that this fix works, you should attempt to narrow down which folders this should be applied to, as it is never a good idea to leave the ACL settings wide-open in this manner."
I was going to run the commands again in the elevated/administrator command prompt but decided to just make sure that nothing somehow got changed with my windows updates and to make sure that there aren't any updates to be installed.

Anyway, there was an error yesterday so I clicked to check for updates and then it showed the 2020-10 cumulative update preview for .net framework 3.5 and 4.8 for windows 10 version 2004 for x64 (kb4580419) and that it was then installing.

Below that it is also showing Feature update to windows 10, version 20H2
The next version of Windows is available with new features and security improvements. When you're ready for the update, select "download and install"

Could that actually be the problem - not downloading and installing the feature update?

The cumulative update for .net framework is ready for restart so I am going to do that right now and will wait to hear back before downloading and installing the feature update or going any further with the steps on the link from Jacee.

Am I jumping to a wrong conclusion or is Injr's problem related to the problem I am also getting help with in another thread, titled "Clocks keep stopping when PC is closed"? If it is, could it be a result of an update we have both installed recently?

    clayto,
my problem is that when the clocks changed this past weekend, mine did not go back the hour and I had to adjust it manually. Trying to find out what the problem is so that in the future it will change when the clocks change again.
But it wouldn't surprise me if it is related to an update that was recently installed for windows 10.

Still trying to find out why the elevated command prompts are not working either as well as the error 0x80070005. Jacee did give some information on fixing that error but I forgot to change the clock first then follow those steps, reboot the computer and then see if it will work after allowing user full control. Was going to do that earlier, but Mom was rushed to the hospital and have been taking care of that issue and have not had a chance to do anything with my computer. Hoping that they have adjusted her meds so that her sugars are not so out of control and they discharge her tomorrow. Will then try the steps at https://neosmart.net/wiki/0x80070005/ again and see if the issue is resolved. Then as the last step states ---- After verifying that this fix works, you should attempt to narrow down which folders this should be applied to, as it is never a good idea to leave the ACL settings wide-open in this manner. Just not sure how to go about doing that if the fix does work.

I did run a full virus scan on my computer as well as ran the eset online scanner and nothing was found. Also never had this issue until the time change this past weekend.

I will install that new windows 10 update, but I would like to figure out why I am having the issues I am having so that the computer is working properly before installing the new update.

I am still trying to find out why the time did not change as well as why the elevated command prompts are not working and the 0x80070005 errors when doing those command prompts. Jacee did give some information on fixing that error and I did follow the steps the allow user full control but did not get a chance to reboot the computer and see if that solved the issue before my Mom was rushed to the hospital. I will then try changing the time, rebooting the computer and seeing if after the pc starts again, if it does sync with the correct time. If not, I am guessing that I need to run those command prompts again and then see if that does in fact resolve the issue. The information is from - 0x80070005 - Fix for Windows Vista, 7, 8, 8.1, 10 at neosmart.net/wiki/0x80070005

If the fix does resolve the issue, then it states to narrow down which folder this should be applied to, as it is never a good idea to leave the ACL setting wide-open in that manner ------ I am just not sure how to go about narrowing down which folders to apply the fix to and exactly how to do that.

I did run a full virus scan as well as malware scans and I also ran the eset online scanner and nothing was found on the computer

I am at a complete loss / confused as to what I should be doing to get this issue resolve.

There have been a few different suggestions, but I am no longer sure which one of the suggestions I should be trying to do to fix this issue.

okay, I see that FreeBooter has given me a registry file to double click on and install.

Do I simply double click on it and it will be installed in the registry?

I will create a backup of the computer and the registry before doing this - just in case.

But I want to be sure that is what I should be doing before going any further.

    Thank You

    Why? What's the rationale?

    Why?

For example, your registry file shows the "LastKnownGoodTime" entry of YOUR system. I think many of us are aware that the Windows Time service fails to automatically update if the 'last successful sync' time/date is outside a fairly restricted parameter.

The REG file appears to be just a dump of the 'Time' service settings in the registry of YOUR system in a completely different country's timezone.

Perhaps provide an explanation why asking someone to merge these settings is going to fix the issue in their system?

@lnjr... you cannot 'stop' a service that is not yet started... and the Windows Time service only runs as required, not all the time - hence the first of your error messages.
