No directory permissions, but it's my account and I'm an Admin

So Windows randomly sets some folders as read-only and I can't seem to change them to read-write.

When I click on the Advanced button, me as the user has no ability to modify subfolders.

I even tried this command from an elevated prompt, which seemed to work, but in reality did not enable me to change the problem folder to read-write.

    C:\Program Files>attrib -r -s adobe\*.* /s

You would need to change the Owner.

    x509,

The Read-only attribute for a folder is generally meaningless and it is ignored by Windows.

You cannot view or change the Read-only or the System attributes of folders [Win7 etc] - MSSupport

Assuming that this was a means to an end, what is the end that you are trying to achieve?

This is a question I wish people would ask more often ...

Its designed to make the system more secure and stop virus. Many folders are owned by system and it controls all folders that are critical so even as admin you can't screw it up and virus can't infect the system
