    Hi there
I have an Acer Aspire 3 A315-51-376T message said "no bootable device found", so I went to change from UEFI to Legacy only to get the message in a large blue bar across the screen
"Microsoft recommends executing Windows 8 and the version above under UEFI boot to enjoy the full features"
    What do you suggest next.
This machine is running Windows 10
    Any help would be appreciated

No boot means the boot sector is missing you need to change uefi back on download the latest free ISO boot from that and try a repair if the disk is ok it should be quick

    Hi there Samuria
    Many thanks for that.
Just one problem, this model does not have CD drive, so I used standalone CD drive via two USB ports on the Acer and it didn't like that either "picky bugger"
I was thinking of putting it in another machine but I think that's chasing rainbows.
I do have a Windows 10 exe recovery file on a stick, I thinking of trying that

Confirm the bios sees the disk ok? Fix the MBR in Windows 10

    • Boot from the original installation DVD (or the recovery USB)
    • At the Welcome screen, click Repair your computer.
    • Choose Troubleshoot.
    • Choose Command Prompt.
    • When the Command Prompt loads, type the following commands: bootrec /FixMbr bootrec /FixBoot bootrec /ScanOs bootrec /RebuildBcd.

    Hi there
Thanks for that, I have just downloaded a "MiniTool ShadowMaker" I think I may struggle because it does not even get past the Acer icon.
The BIOS is in UEFI mode
I downloaded "MiniTool ShadowMaker" once but that was on a large USB stick and poor old sole might have got confused.
So now I am going to install it onto a small 1.7gb, I am just formatting the USB and then I will use this tower to install it
Will not let me alter the boot sequence so that I can try and boot from the USB< I will put this up here and get back to you in a minute or two
BACK again I have the lime green ACER logo and the USB stick is lit and flickered a couple of times.
    ------------------------------------
Just come on "No bootable device"
    ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
Now rebooting and I'm going into BIOS for Legacy setting
Right it has now booted in Legacy
It has now let me scroll to Boot and drop down to USB

I might add I have a stand alone cd rom and a copy of Win 10

    What's your thoughts
    =======================================
    Just seen your reply
I don't have the original disc

The boot order has to be changed so that if you want to use usbhdd, presently no.6,then it has to be made no.1.
When you boot,go into the bios and reset the bios to factory default,or however your system is worded.
Press the appropriate key to save the change and when requested to save and exit, press Y then ENTER.
    A re-boot is necessary.
Don't forget,as i sometimes do,that to boot from a usb device,it MUST be plugged in prior to booting.

    Hi there
Many thanks for your DOS line.
I have never been a fan of this but I try.
I have an idea, see what you think of this.
Your line "bootrec /FixMbr bootrec /FixBoot bootrec /ScanOs bootrec /RebuildBcd."
Where there should be a space can you insert X (uppercase) and where I should press enter insert >>, and as appropriate where I should press enter
Please don't worry I will not type X or >> but it will help get round this problem.
I believe that the uppercase was used as appropriate.

What are the status of the important computer files:
    a) files backed up to another drive or the cloud
    b) backed up images saved to another drive or the cloud
    c) no backed up files or images > files need to be saved
    d) no backed up files or images > files do not need to be saved

    Please perform the following steps:

    1) Find 3 or 4 flash drives that you can format (> or = 8 GB)

    2) Make tools that can be used to recover important files, test the drives, and troubleshoot

    3) On a working computer create:

    a) a new bootable windows 10 iso 2009:

    Download Windows 10 ISO File

You will see that I have edited your quote
I am a bit reticent about downloading an ISO file because the Acer will not be able to read it
Regarding Ubuntu I don't understand how this will work with Windows 10 64 bit
    OR
Have I read it wrong and you want me to download A) , B) & C
At the moment I have altered the Boot from UEFI to Legacy and point it to USB CD Rom, I have attached a photo because it seems to be stuck on this section.
Are Acer Aspires always as slows as this ?
Going back to what "Samuria" was saying with the CMD.exe does that need doing also ?
