    Am I Mistaken About 2004?

Finally took the plunge today and upgraded 2 laptops to ver 2004. I thought the big thing about this upgrade was supposed to be the new start menu but neither of my laptops has the new start menu after the upgrade. Was I wrong in my thinking? Thanks in advance

    Hello CChamp,
What is the current version you have according to winver command?

What are you not seeing vs what you expected to see. I would suggest you not update to 2009/20H2 and the moment.

I thought it was supposed to be translucent with cleaner icons. I have not been offered the 20H2 yet.

You have the current latest 20H12004 - I would suggest not to update to 20H2.

Rather learn how to make a full backup first: Backup and Restore with Macrium Reflect

I just upgraded today myself to the same version as CChamp.................I don't notice anything different either, although I never examine it in detail.

What should jump out at me?

There are issues with 20H2, so make a backup before you consider updating to 20H2 even if it is offered to your PC. This rule should be applied before any update/upgrade.

In your case, you can install the 20H2 KB Enablement package, to get to 20H2 from 20H1, and uninstall it if you have issues - but I suggest a full backup first.

I don't usually install the updates until they have had ample time to work the bugs out but are you saying that the new start menu comes in the 20H2 update and not the 2004? Thanks again
