Search box version # 20H2 Windows 10

My search box does not work at all. I have been all over the net with all kinds of "solutions" but none of them fixed my problem. Is there any one who knows whats going on and will be able to fix this. It is giving me a headache and I am just about to reset
this PC. Please help.

1. Use the Windows key + R keyboard shortcut to open the Run command.
2. Type the following command and click the OK button:
   
   
   Code:

   cmd

3. Type the following command to launch the troubleshooter and press Enter:
   
   Code:

   msdt -ep WindowsHelp id SearchDiagnostic

Try running dism and sfc: How to Repair Corrupted Windows System Files with the SFC and DISM Commands if you have not tried them both yet recently .

Windows has been having search problems since Version 1909 [or it might have been 1903].

You might as well just use a third-party search utility until MS decide to sort things out.

I use NirSoft SearchMyFiles. Other utilities are available.

True, however I have Window Search working on multiple 2004 PCs without issue.

I can use Windows Search to find indexed files, folder, settings, and apps - not sure if third party apps can search settings and apps. I do also use 3rd party Agent Ransack if I'm searching for something I have not indexed.

M$ Search definitely has room for improvement, but I would not instantly dismiss it.

Unfortunately, @Shiron, I have had to do an in-place-upgrade-repair to make Windows Search work at times and I don't think that's an option for you as that option is broken in 20H2 for the moment. Hopefully we can get Windows search to work some other way for you.

I guess I will wait as this problem seems to have started with one of Micros updates.
Oh well I can live without it. I am using "FileSearchy" seems to work ok.
