Hi, you can examine your startup tasks starting with the list in the relevant task manager tab.
If you need to see more items starting, use Autoruns (free from MS). Checkboxes list everything starting. Run it as admin to make changes.
Only disable non-MS items. Note- this lists EVERYTHING starting so be careful to look only at relevant sections, including scheduled tasks, and only non-MS items.
If this only just started happening, you might consider using a System Restore point if you have a recent one available.
Make sure you only disable startups for programs - start with just the Logon tab and consider Scheduled Tasks.
You might try making intelligent choices- if you immediately recognise the startup, leave it.
You're probably looking for something more obscure.
Try to do the least rather than disable a huge amount. If you disable something you shouldn't, it's possible to get into trouble.
A wise person would create a System Restore point and have a current disk image. (e.g. Macrium Reflect - free- paid- so, so often recommended).
When did this start happening, and what preceded that?
ok so i had a look through logon and tasks only one i disabled was the one that was opening my c\users\appdata folder i have a system restore but it is 21/10/2020 but it was still happing on that date i have a windows 10 disc to start fresh if i need to would rather not though as i would have to back up files.
That reads as if you've found the one that opens it.ok so i had a look through logon and tasks only one i disabled was the one that was opening my c\users\appdata folder
Otherwise you need to try disabling things to see if anything stops it. Don't forget scheduled tasks.
Also try creating a new user for test purposes. Log in as that user and see if it happens then. If not, that gives you a contrasting case for comparison.
Punctuation and spacing helps greatly.
