Why is the "change only text size" greyed out?

I'm logged in an admin account and it's greyed out. I searched online and it seems some people have this issue as well but I couldn't find a solution. Why is the "change only text size" greyed out?-new-bitmap-image.png

Click on "set a custom scaling level" and change it to say 125%. Click Apply, Sign Out, Sign back in. You should be able to change the Text Size.

It will still be grayed out.

Yes, this has been broken since the beginning of Previews. If you are comfortable working with regedit, go to:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Desktop\WindowMetrics

and you can tweak the xxxFont entries. Just change the first hex byte - I use eb instead of the default f1. You'll need to sign out/sign in for it to take effect.

Looks as though the system may not be activated, therefore personalization is blocked.

That has nothing to do with it. In my fully activated and verified system, I see the same thing, and have since Technical Preview 1 back in October.

I clicked "set a custom scaling level" and changed it from 125% to 100% and it's no longer grayed out. Donno why it was set to 125%, I didn't change it and see no difference after changing and re-login.

Ok. I was talking generally and not necessarily directing it at you, but also the OP. It does have everything to do with it if a system is not activated. Just went through that due to losing activation. Once I got it activated this is no longer greyed out and indeed works as seen below. However, I see it's not the case with you.

Is yours a fresh installed system?

I upgraded from 8.1 Pro, then used the ISO to do a clean install. All validated, verified, and activated. Did you change the overall scaling? I have to use 125% (my poor broken eyes). I think the individual font size dropdown thing might work if you never touched that setting...
