    Right Clicking This PC icon

So I just upgraded to Windows 10 20H2. Now when I right click on This PC icon it goes to About. Why the did Microsoft do this? Every since Windows 95 25 years it has always went to system. Now Microsoft has to change it?
Why did they change it? Is my Imagination or is it the same for everyone? I know most people don't go to system like that anymore but I still do. And I think it was dumb for Microsoft to change it. Even if you go to Control Panel and click
    System it goes to About.

When I select Properties it goes to about. This is not Insider preview this was installed with a USB flash made with Windows Media Creation tool.

I've neither seen this nor heard it reported elsewhere. All 3 of my Insider Preview 20H2 PCs show a normal Explorer context menu when right-clicked. Something like this:

You'll probably want to report this to feedback hub. Seems like a glitch or a bug to me.

If I open This PC and right click and select properties it goes to system. I guess it must me a glitch.

What were you expecting it to open?

If I right-click on This PC in a machine running 2004 it opens 'Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > System' where it tells me information about my PC, such as 'Processor', 'Installed memory.(RAM)' and 'System type'.

If I right-click on This PC in a machine running 20H2 it opens 'Settings > System > About' where it tells me information about my PC, such as 'Processor', 'Installed RAM' and 'System type'.

This is the same information as before, supplied by Settings rather than Control Panel. It is another example of Microsoft policy of migrating some more of the old Control Panel functions into the modern Settings app with each new version of Windows 10. In this case it actually adds functionality as About also tells you the edition, version and install date of the Windows you are running.

Over time expect more functions to be removed from Control Panel as Microsoft's preferred Setting app gains more functions. For now System and About are both available, some other functions have already been removed from Control Panel - try setting program defaults, for example. There may come a time when Control Panel is removed completely.

I was expecting it to go to System Properties like it has done for 25 years. This is the way I have go to System Properties for 25 years. I always go to System to check device manager even though there are easier ways this is the wway I have done it. Sorry if I sound edgy I have a hard time adapting to change.
I rolled back to 2004 on my desktop. I even tried a clean install on an extra hard drive and it did the same. Even going to control panel and selecting system it went to about.

Right now I am on my Laptop it has 2004 also but I just noticed there may be updates. I hope it does not try to install 20h2.

I do not see a reason to change things that have been a certain way 25 years.

Then Microsoft aren't going to make it any easier for you, I'm afraid. Control Panel is withering away as Settings gets more functionality.

One change I have adapted to over the years is searching from Start. I open Device Manager by clicking Start then typing device manager. It's an adaptive search in W10, learning from your behaviour. So the more frequently I do that the less letters I have to type to get my search result - currently it's down to the first three. For the snipping tool it's down to just one, the s as I use it so often.

MS knows the best, just like when they removed Start and then put it back.
I miss the old System, but it can be still opened, you can even create a shortcut.
    Code:
    C:\Windows\explorer.exe shell:::{BB06C0E4-D293-4f75-8A90-CB05B6477EEE}

No they did not put the Start Manu back. Not exactly like it was they just put a modified start menu back. I use a program called Start is Back. It is better than classic shell.
Start is back let's you make a XP style Start Menu or Windows 7 Style. It also put the Windows Flag on the Start Button instead of a Sea Shell.

But back to the issue on This PC Icon. I did not mean the Icon is not on the desktop. I mean when I right click "This PC" from anywhere and select Properties. It goes to About instead of System. When I go to control panel and click System it goes to About.

The good news is that you won't have to change your ways for 20H2. You can continue to right-click on My PC and select Properties, Device Manager is available in 'About' too, over to the right under 'Related settings'.

Yes I now see they moved it all. Guess I will just have to adjust but I still think this was a bad idea. A lot of people older people are gonna be lost and confused. Thanks everyone for the help.
