Windows Explorer crashes (and restarts) after waking up from sleep eve

    Hello!

Windows Explorer crashes on my desktop every time I wake the PC from sleep.

It starts up again after 2-3 seconds, but some of my taskbar icons disappear (like FX Sound Enhancer, AMD Adrenaline etc.).

I am not sure if this started happening after an update or not, but as far as I can remember, there have not been any major Windows updates on my PC recently.

I've attached my PC specs, but please let me know if I can provide any further information, since this has been driving me insane for some time now.
I've tried sfc /scannow, chkdsk, reinstalling my Video drivers (since they were the only ones I actually updated in the last couple of months, which is when this started happening to me).

    Operating System
    Windows 10 Pro 64-bit Version 10.0.18363 Build 18363
    CPU
    AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 53 °C
    Matisse 7nm Technology
    RAM
    16.0GB Dual-Channel Unknown @ 1599MHz (16-18-18-36)
    Motherboard

    Graphics

    LG TV (1920x1080@144Hz)
8192MB ATI Radeon RX 580 Series (XFX Pine Group) 52 °C
    Storage
    298GB Western Digital WDC WD3200AAKS-75L9A0 (SATA ) 30 °C
    223GB SSD (SATA (SSD)) 17 °C
    1863GB Seagate ST2000DM008-2FR102 (SATA (SSD)) 30 °C
    Optical Drives

Please let me know if I can provide anything else!

    Thanks!

Hi, your MOBO seems to be from around 2018, so not old- is that correct?

reinstalling my Video drivers (since they were the only ones I actually updated in the last couple of months, which is when this started happening to me).
I recommend you use the ones recommended by your manufacturer - if any- and try rolling them back to see what happens.

    If no change:

Please try the following to see what happens:
    a. Disable all non-MS shell extensions using Shellexview (google, install, free), sleep and resume.
    b. Create a new user, log in as that user, sleep and resume.
    c. Perform a clean boot (Google or see tutorial is unsure how), sleep and resume.
    d. Boot to Safe mode, sleep and resume.

If you see the same problem in all of those, disable/disconnect your non-system drives, and try sleep and resume.

Check your Update History- any updates around the time this started? Include drivers at the bottom.

    Hi! Thanks for replying!

I tried all of the steps above without success.

I've attached my driver list below.

    Thanks!

Hi, as you see the same problem in Safe Mode, it's not your graphics driver.
Nor does it appear to be related to an installed program.
As you see the same with a new user account it's not user profile corruption.

    Awaited:

Shellexview does not expose all shell extensions. You may find more (non-MS ones) if you use
Autoruns (free from MS). Run as admin, checkboxes like Shellexview. Try disabling any other extensions not disabled by Shellexview.

If no luck, try an in-place upgrade repair install which keeps all progs and data using a compatible Win 10 iso file (freely downloadable). Tutorials refer.

You have build 18363 - 1909- thus you need to use the Heidoc iso downloader as per tutorial if you don't have a 1909 iso file.

Analytical approach: examine dmp files, run Procmon from MS and capture a log. Probability of success- rather low.
