Windows 10 Group Policy Editor strange text/font

    Hi,

I have a feeling this might be an easy answer, but I am not sure how to describe it to find the answer just searching. Every attempt brings me pages of unrelated information.

I upgraded Windows 10 home to Professional (1909) on my laptop using my own key. After it completed I was checking the group policy options I had on my old laptop and mostly just checking everything was working. While looking around I noticed that under "Computer Configuration>Administrative Templates>Windows Components>Windows Security" the text looks garbled, although just about readable still. I would ignore it, but if it is a sign something corrupted I would rather get it sorted sooner. See screenshot.

Anyone any ideas? Or an idea of what to search for!

Please post screenshots thus: (tutorials available if needed)

Download this neat free tool which includes a convenient search option - Very similar appearance. Compare what you see.
    Download Policy Plus - MajorGeeks

It refused to work the first time, I posted the link as imgur is pretty established so I didn't think anyone would have an issue. Although that was stupid, because on mobile I have an issue with low resolution images on imgur - completely forgot about it!! I'll see if it worked this time.

Edit: Hopefully it is all good now.

Thanks, as I suggested, please try Policyplus to see if that shows the same.

Could be a font issue.. but that doesn't obviously make a lot of sense. There was an odd one reported a couple of times. E.g. this
Square icon overlay on wifi icon (After upgrading to Windows 10 2004)

    - different symptom, but a specific font is mentioned. Could be completely unrelated... it just reminded me of this.

You will get better screen definition if you save the screenshot as .png (lossless), not .jpg (lossy, loss variable).

PolicyPlus shows the same thing. Exactly as far as I can tell comparing the two. If it isn't likely to be important I could just wait to see if it gets fixed in updates. Just wanted to see if anyone knew anything about it, or any issue it could be a sign of.

Yea, I could just quickly use paint even I suppose which I think defaults to .png. I used another application that defaults to jpeg.

I thought (well, I know) you said 'it is all good now' - so is it? If you use the W10 screen snipping tool (easy), it offers png or jpg. I imagine whatever you used has png as an option. Your jpg was fairly 'lossy'.

Also, scale the window to show less, thus making the characters larger - it's hard to discern any issue with that jpg, eg:

It was posting the image that was the issue the first time, that is what was ok the second time. I already had the image still on the desktop so Just reused that, in the future if needed I can use the snipping tool.

Edit: Having more of the screen there was deliberate, showing a selection of other sections not affected. I don't post on forums for tech support much, I am sure if I need to in the future I can get better at how to do it and what to show.

I also have exactly the same symptoms. This is on a PC that was originally Win 7 Pro but was "in-place" upgraded to Windows 10.

btw - the reason I was even looking at this part of the Group Policy is that RDP sessions always log out a fews seconds to a minute after initially logging in. Luckily it only does this once per RDP session, but it's still annoying!
