i have a question about hibernation

in the past when i was on windows 10 build 1809 the laptop went to sleep when i closed the lid and it woke up when i opened the lid and the screen turned on. i didnt have to press the power button to wake up the laptop and opening the lid will wake up the laptop regardless of how long the lid was closed

i just started using windows 10 build 2004 on my laptop. if i close the lid then the laptop will sleep and it will wake up when i open the lid. however i noticed that if the lid was closed for a long time like overnight and i opened the lid then the laptop didnt wake up and i had to press the power button to wake it up

what happened? did the laptop hibernate after extended sleep? how do i disable that? i want opening the lid to wake up the laptop regardless of how long the lid was closed

    Hello @cns00,
See if this helps Change Lid Close Default Action in Windows 10

Sounds like Lid Close is set to Hibernate and you want to change it to Sleep.

Make a note of the solution, you may have to (re)do it again.

I kill sleep and hibernation on all my devices, but it wouldn't be the first time an update has reset the default settings.

Better yet, open a Elevated Command Prompt. Type powercfg -h off and press Enter.
That turns Hibernate off and gets rid of hiberfile.sys as well.
