Thank you. @Try3 also recommended this and I have downloaded and installed it. Further to my previous post about Task Scheduler (TS) Task Status pane being empty - In Action, I toggled AT Service Account Config from System Account to Administrator and 1 task showed up. I toggled it back to System Account and the new task remained in the Task Status pane. I also checked Enable All Task History. Maybe that being initially disabled caused the Task Status pane to not be populated. I ran a few tasks manually and they showed up. Now, several hours later, there are 39 tasks in the Task Status pane.

As for the original problem, I definitely have some new tools to analyze what is causing the daily shut-downs in the morning. It could be related to a task but the shut-down times vary over a 2 hour time span. If a Task was causing the shut-down, then it should be occurring at or near the exact same time every day (assuming the Task runs daily). I'll leave the machine running tonight and see if it happens again tomorrow morning. Thanks for all of the help and suggestions.

Sounds like an overheat. After getting to a certain temp, the system will click off, resembling a tripped circuit breaker!
There will be zero clean shut down and the system will be off when a certain maximum temp is reached.

Yes I suspected the pump was acting up resulting in an over-temp condition because it has done that in the past. That is why I have Core Temp running with logging enabled. The log records every core's temp, speed, and % load once per minute. The logs did not record any high or unusual values for any of these CPU parameters before or at the approximate time of the shut-downs. Since I switched it from PWM to RPM control, the pump has been reliably running at ~2800RPM. If the CPU was overheating, the Core Temp logs would show it. Thanks, and please keep those suggestions coming!

Does ---powercfg /systemsleepdiagnostics--- have any entries which might be relevant?

Well it did it again this morning and its driving me nuts!

Event Viewer custom view "Crashes - OS Unexpected Shutdown" (thanks to @Try3) shows Event ID 6008 (unexpected shutdown) occurred at 7:36:51am. I rebooted the machine a little after 10am. One thing I don't understand is that when I look at Event Viewer custom view "TS Tasks" I see Task Scheduler events occurring up to 8:03:01am. If the machine shut down at 7:36:51am, how can there be Task Scheduler events occurring AFTER that time, up until 8:03:01am?

@joeandmarg0 - Thank you for this suggestion. I tried "powercfg /systemsleepdiagnostics" from an elevated command prompt and got this message.

The system sleep diagnostics report has been deprecated and replaced with the system power report. Please use the command "powercfg /systempowerreport" instead.

So I ran that and got an HTML report. It shows the Abnormal Shutdowns with a time stamp that matches the time that I booted the machine after I found it shutdown. Reason says Unknown.

I am reviewing Tasks in TaskScheduleView and trying to see if there is a particular Task that runs immediately at or before the last recorded Event in Event Viewer. Since I am seeing Events that occurred AFTER the shut-down Event, but BEFORE I re-booted, it is very confusing and so far I have not found a consistent suspect.

Thanks again for all of the help and suggestions.

Your Event Viewer logs are filled with N/A entries. Almost nothing of any use at all in them.

You're running Insider build 20231. If possible, I'd recommend doing a clean install of that build. Get the ISO using UUP Dump.

Thanks very much for getting back to me. Not sure what you mean by N/A entries. When I look in Event Viewer there are lots of entries. Can you clarify what you mean? I am assuming you have looked at the Log Collector V2 output I posted a Drop Box link to yesterday per your request.

Yes it is Insider Build v2004 Build 20231. It could be related to this build but the first time it happened was before I updated to this build. I was really hoping to not have to resort to a clean install. Are you suggesting that what you saw indicates a problem severe enough to warrant that?

    Thanks Again

This is what I see in system events, same for applications events. There is nothing there.

Computer shuts down every morning between 6am and 7am-image.png

    Each entry looks like this:

    Event[4]
    Log Name: System
    Source: Microsoft-Windows-Kernel-Boot
    Date: 2020-10-07T23:36:40.8670000Z
    Event ID: 26
    Task: N/A
    Level: N/A
    Opcode: N/A
    Keyword: N/A
    User: S-1-5-18
    User Name: NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM
    Computer: SPEEDY-V
    Description:
    N/A

Are you saying when you look at Event Viewer you get good data?

There are no dumps so no BSODs are occurring.

Can you post the events around the Event ID 6008 (unexpected shutdown) occurred at 7:36:51am.

Yes I am saying that I see Events in Event Viewer. I have attached screenshots of Event Viewer - Administrative, System, and Application events in the time period before to just after when I rebooted the machine. The machine did not shut down this morning. Yesterday it did. Event ID 6008 in Administrative Events shows it occurred at 7:36:51am. In the screen shots you can see the gap in entries due to the shutdown.

In Application Events, there is a #10001 Restart Manager at 7:03:14. I don't know if this is relevant and it occurred ~33-min prior to the shutdown. System Events has a #10016 D-Com error at 7:47:21am, which is after the #6008 at 7:36:51am, which is confusing. I don't know the inner workings of Log Collector V2. Is it possible that it did not acquire the log data properly?

Thanks very much for looking at this.

    - - - Updated - - -

Update to anyone following this thread - Yesterday the computer did not shut down. I had not made any changes (that I know of) that would have affected the shutdowns, so I don't know why it shut down every day since October 8th but not yesterday. After grabbing the screen shots in my last post, I updated to Windows 10 v2004 Build 20236. The OS update cleared the Event Logs and the Reliability Monitor so I am basically starting over.

I don't know if the shutdowns were related to Build 20231 so I don't know if updating to Build 20236 will affect whatever is causing them. The machine did not shut down yesterday or today, and now the OS has been updated. Based on this, I will consider the problem resolved. If it starts doing it again, I will start trouble-shooting again.

I have learned some things and gained some useful tools and insights from the people who helped me in this thread. Many thanks to everyone.

    Dear @Speedy IV:
Should you find yourself once again troubleshooting mystery shutdowns another possible culprit for such behavior is a failing Power Supply Unit (PSU). Your EVGA Super NOA 1200 P2 looks like a pretty new unit, so it might be an issue with the voltage regulator or its internal power capacitors. You might want to consider contacting EVA tech support and asking for troubleshooting advice/input should this happen again. You're probably still under warranty, so they should be willing to help you out.
