How to get a better "Browse for folder" dialog box - is it possible ?

I have to move many files in a program which I am using.
When I want to move a file, a dialog box pops up and asks me to browse to the folder where I'd like to put it.

This dialog box is small and unfriendly, and I have to click down the folder structure time and time again.

Is there a way to tell Win10 to invoke a better "Browse for folder" dialog box, that at least remembers what the last file location was?

Many programs will remember where the last place you saved something to... was located. W/o knowing what program you're using...

If this program naturally saves files to a specific location, you could open two File Explorer Windows and just drag and drop the files (from one window to the other) to w/e you want them.

I like to use the Copy to/Move to choices on the right-click context menu. I got it from the Tutorials in this forum.

But that uses the dialog that the OP is trying to get away from.

Ask the program developers. They are the ones who made the decision to call up that dialog instead of the standard one.
Windows 10 can only respond to what the program tells it to do.

Yes, try asking the developers to enhance their program.

If they "procrastinate" about an upgrade, you could use an alternate route for the time being.

Set up something similar to this:
    1) Make a new folder either on your Desktop or in the main C:/ drive (in order for easy access from that that window that you attached in your post)
    2) In that folder, make a shortcut to the folder that you usually access to make the files move to
    3) So every time you want to move files, you can easily access the folder that you created in step 1, from that window you posted above. Then generally open that folder on your computer, and move the file to that shortcut of the folder that's there.

    You see what I mean?

Hi there are 3rd party solutions offering favourite and recent folders and more in most open/save dialogues (but not all where these are custom).

    These offer quick, easy navigation.

Listary (free is very good- also a paid version): e.g. middle click on empty space in the open-save dialogue and I get the dialogue highlighted in green. (On this PC I've only added a couple- you can add more as you like). Also available with file explorer of course.

Then the > chevrons open that folder- so you can rapidly navigate to folders - click one, and you can save in that folder.

Listary has other functions too. (Google Listary).

Here's a second way: notice the extra buttons in the title bar: there can be many. Here I've clicked Favorites.

If I click 'Shopping' the Save dialogue will let be save in that folder.

Those are from Actual Window Manager (not free). There are cheaper cut down versions.

    Bansaw,

I should also have mentioned that some old programs call up what was the standard browsing dialog in their day but the call now results in the dialog you dislike.

And this might solve your problem [but it depends what the program is calling]

You could just copy and paste the path of the folder you want to copy to in the Folder that shows This PC in your image. Then hit enter twice and you're done.

I hate this "Browse for folder" browse box so much... Can't paste a path or anything, you have to click on folder after folder to get what you want... Why Windows 10 haven't get rid of this useless type of folder browsing prompt?

How did you get to that window?

I suggested ways to get to the folder you want above conveniently using 3rd party tools. Have you tried any?

I think you'd feel so much better if you actually found a way forward and 'defeated the system'.

Rather than complain here, which will achieve little except perhaps to dissuade respondents, you would need to complain to MS - you can do that via the Feedback Hub app.
