    Disappearance of desktop icons

I turned on my Windows 10 PC and noticed all my desktop icons were gone, with the exception of Recycle Bin. The Search box is also gone. The taskbar icons appear intact. Never seen that happen before. Any idea what may have happened, and is it possible to revert the situation back to normal? Thanks for your help.

Right click on the Desktop -> View
Is there a check mark to the left of: Show desktop icons?

I had already tried that, Pepanee. I also tried system restore. Nothing worked, although I did manage to fix the search box. I finally went ahead and reset the computer, so now I'm starting over. Everything is OK now, and thanks for your assistance. Ed

    You’re welcome Mr Ed.
Hopefully the system reset isn’t too much of a hassle to deal with. I’ve done that a few times, and spent hours reconfiguring all my personal settings and such.
Hopefully it doesn’t take too long to get everything back to the way you want it to be.

Yes, it took a while, but I have plenty of time on my hands.

Install and use the free version of Macrium Reflect. It can be a real lifesaver as I've found out on several occasions. Macrium Software | Macrium Reflect Free
